RIP Macho Man Randy Savage

My heart breaks for the loss of one of the greatest wrestlers of all time....
RIP "Macho Man" Randy Savage
via
When my sister's boyfriend Matt broke the news to me I was just in shock. I still am. He's a superhero. Superhero's don't die. Anybody who knows me knows how big wrestling has played a part in my life. Since I was a little girl I was taken in by the magic of wrestling - the pure excitement, dramatic story lines, theatrics, athletic ability - at one point it was all "real" to me. Micaela and I truly believed what was going on in that ring was actually happening. We believed in our heros. Loved them unconditionally. Her great love is Bret "The Hitman" Hart. Mine has and will forever be Shawn "The Heartbreak Kid" Michaels. They were larger than life. And now one of the greatest is gone. It's a sad, sad day for wrestling fans all over the world. My heart breaks and I could not stop the tears from coming when I heard the news.

So this post is to celebrate my love for wrestling. Today I remember one of many great matches the Macho Man gave us in his amazing career:

Look at what a baby face my man HBK had way back when :) I love the Boy Toy era :)

It's so crazy because I've been reading Hulk Hogan's bio that I got last weekend:
You can hardly think about Hogan without thinking of the Macho Man. I was telling a friend about how the Hulkster made wrestling mainstream. He added that it was Randy Savage that also did that and I agreed wholeheartedly. Then this past Wednesday I was watching one of my Shawn Michaels DVDs just because I felt in the mood to watch my man. I was telling my mom how anytime I feel sad or stressed all I have to do is pop in one of my HBK DVDs and instantly my mood is lifted.

It's like a rush of de ja vu whenever I watch them. I'm taken back to childhood. Taken back to a happy time when I am watching it with my twinkie  in our room in Germany (walls covered with posters of Bret and HBK!) and life was so simple. Crazy how I can feel today exactly what I felt watching it the first time all those years ago.

Here's a couple of photos to share my love of wrestling with you:

*This was taken after I saw HBK wrestle for the first time. That is one of the key moments in my life. I'll never forget exactly what I felt after seeing him live. The moment I heard his entrance music start playing...I lost it! :)
*Micaela and I at one of many wrestling events. Notice her Bret "The Hitman" Hart shirt :)
*Before a wrestling event in a shirt I had made and my HBK stand up :)
*Then I got another one, because how can you just have ONE HBK stand up?? :)

*One of my oldest friends Barbara and me in OKC after a wrestling event

I even got to meet some of the wrestlers at a Hooters in Bricktown after a wrestling ppv in OKC. One of the best nights of my life :)
*My shirt said "I love Shawn Michaels" and all of them were making fun of me calling him an old man etc. and why weren't their names on my shirt instead. Their cell phones were on the table and I kept thinking "man oh man...they have to have HBK's phone number!!!" haha :) At one point I shared Randy Orton's chair!!! Can you believe that?!?! :) Greatest.night.ever!!!!!
*oh sexy Randy Orton!!! :) My knees were literally shaking standing next to him. It was amazing!

I'm thankful for the "Macho Man" Randy Savage who paved the way for wrestlers like Shawn "The Hearbreak Kid" Michaels. I can't imagine my life without the fun and enjoyment wrestling has given me.

*There is comfort that as Micaela pointed out - he will be reunited with Miss Elizabeth again in heaven :)

The girl of my dreams

She never ceases to take my breath away...

Last night April and I were chatting about key moments in our lives. One of mine is the first time I saw Brit Brit in concert. That's right. The moment before she first came out on stage ranks up there with my wedding day, college graduation and London. I'll never forget how happy I felt at that moment :)

J.J. Hardy Is Best Player Of Milwaukee Brewers

Milwaukee Brewers

He was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers during the second round of the 2001 draft. In 2003 he played for the U.S. Olympic Qualifying team. Participated in MLB All-Star Futures Game in 2003. His 2008 contract with the Brewers was for $2,650,000. Hardy suffered a dislocated shoulder and a torn labrum in 2004 in the minor leagues and sat out the year.
He went into spring training in 2005 as the frontrunner to win the starting shortstop job. Although he got off to a very slow start, Hardy finished strong and ended the year with a .247 batting average, 9 home runs and 50 RBIs. Hardy committed only 10 errors in the field, but also had the lowest range factor of all major league shortstops (3.76).
On May 16, 2006, Hardy slid into Philadelphia Phillies catcher Sal Fasano at home plate trying to score and badly injured his ankle when Fasano attempted to block the plate. X-rays revealed a severe sprain of the ankle, and he was placed on the 15-day disabled list. Hardy recovered from the sprain, but constantly had trouble with an ankle tendon that kept popping in and out of place. On July 18, the Brewers announced that Hardy would have season-ending surgery on his ankle, performed by team physician Dr. William Raasch.Hardy finished the year with an average of .242 with 5 home runs and 14 RBI.
By June 27, 2007, Hardy had already doubled his career home run total. He ended up batting .277 with 26 home runs, and 80 RBI. He was selected to play as a reserve in the 2007 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, held in San Francisco. He played in the ninth inning and was walked on his first and only plate appearance.
As of the end of the 2008 season, Hardy was batting .283, with 2 stolen bases, 24 home runs, and 74 RBI. He had a 16-game hitting streak, which was broken on July 5 with a sacrifice bunt in order to aid the Brewers in defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates. For the week of July 7, he was the National League player of the week.
Hardy was re-signed by the Brewers to a one-year, $4.65 million contract. After a low-performing season through July, he was optioned to the Triple-A Nashville Sounds on August 12. His line-drive rate had declined for five consecutive seasons prior to his demotion. He was recalled on September 1 and finished the season batting .229 with 11 HRs and 47 RBI.

Minnesota Twins

On November 6, 2009, Hardy was traded from the Brewers to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for outfielder Carlos Gómez. He strained his left wrist with the Twins and was put on the disabled list. He was back in the lineup July 3. As of August 16, he has a batting average of .267.

Baltimore Orioles

On December 9, 2010, Hardy was acquired by the Orioles from the Twins, along with utility infielder Brendan Harris and $500,000, for minor league pitchers Brett Jacobson and Jim Hoey

Famous Baseball Players Of The World All The Time

Famous Baseball Players
Famous Baseball Players Of The World All The Time

Baseball has its origins in the United Kingdom as well as the United States. The Americans started playing semi-professional baseball since early 1860s and have been unstoppable ever since. Here is some interesting information about some of the most famous baseball players.

Tyrus Raymond (Ty Cobb)

Baseball is a red-blooded sport for red-blooded men. It's no pink tea, and mollycoddles had better stay out. It's a struggle for supremacy, a survival of the fittest. ~ Ty Cobb

Tyrus Raymond popularly known as Ty Cobb was born on December 18, 1886. He was also nicknamed as The Georgia Peach. Cobb was the player who received the most votes of any player on the 1936 inaugural Hall of Fame Ballot. He is widely credited with setting 90 Major League Baseball records during his career. As of 2007, Ty Cobb still holds several records including the highest career batting average (.367). However, Cobb's legacy as an athlete has sometimes been overshadowed by his surly temperament, aggression on the field and several instances of racism.

George Herman Ruth (Babe Ruth)

As soon as I got out there I felt a strange relationship with the pitcher's mound. It was as if I'd been born out there. Pitching just felt like the most natural thing in the world. Striking out batters was easy. ~ Babe Ruth

George Herman Ruth fondly known as Babe Ruth was born on February 6, 1895 is also known as The Bambino or The Sultan of Swat. Babe Ruth was an American Major League baseball player from 1914 to 1935 and has been named as the greatest baseball player in history in various surveys and rankings. He was the first baseball player to hit sixty home runs in one season. Ruth's lifetime total of 714 home runs at his retirement in 1935 was a record for 39 years, until Hank Aaron broke it in 1974.

Lawrence Peter (Yogi Berra)

I never blame myself when I'm not hitting. I just blame the bat and if it keeps up, I change bats. After all, if I know it isn't my fault that I'm not hitting, how can I get mad at myself? ~ Yogi Berra

Lawrence Peter, fondly known as Yogi Berra was born on May 12, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri. Yogi Berra played his entire career for the New York Yankees. He was elected to the baseball Hall of Fame in 1972. He was one of the four players to be named the Most Valuable Player of the American League three times. Yogi Berra, quit school in the eighth grade and is very popular for his malapropisms and twisting the English language in interesting ways. He is very famous for funny and interesting quotes. One such example is his quote in which he says "I never said half the things I really said."

Eddie Clarence Murray (Steady Eddie)

Eddie Murray's bronze bust in Cooperstown will chatter only slightly less than the man himself. The first line of text on the monument should read: He spoke rarely and carried a mighty bat. - Associated Press Sportswriter David Ginsburg

Born on February 24, 1956 in Los Angeles, California, Eddie Clarence Murray is a former Major League Baseball first baseman. Murray was known as one of the most reliable hitters of his time and hence was nicknamed as Steady Eddie. Murray who was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003, is considered to be one of the best switch hitters ever.

Joseph Paul DiMaggio (Joltin’ Joe)

I'm just a ballplayer with one ambition, and that is to give all I've got to help my ball club win. I've never played any other way. ~ Joseph Paul DiMaggio

Joseph Paul DiMaggio was born on November 25, 1914 in Martinez California from where he moves to San Francisco when he was one year old. Fondly known as Joltin' Joe and or the Yankee Clipper, DiMaggio was a baseball player who played his entire Major League career for the New York Yankees. DiMaggio was a three-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) winner and thirteen time All-Star. DiMaggio was known for his accomplishment on both offense and, as a center fielder, on defense. This magnificent player had the fifth-most career home runs (361) and sixth-highest slugging percentage (.579) in history, when he decided to retire at the age of 36. Not only this, DiMaggio is the only player in the history of baseball to be selected for the All-Star Game in every season he played. DiMaggio achieved a 56-game hitting streak, which has been called baseball's most glorious achievement.

How I Celebrated the Weekend

There's nothing better than a good time with your girlfriends. I was blessed with a lot of that last week. From sweating next to Yarei & Maria at the gym to dinner dates, I love being in the company of some of my favourite gals.
Last Wednesday, Jillian, Yarei, me, Ashliegh (and baby Chase in her belly :) and Erin met up for dinner.  It's like Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon: Erin is one of my best friends and she introduced me to Ashleigh. Ashleigh went to High School with Jillian who I met through Micaela (they use to be roommates in college). Yarei knows Jillian because we went to college with Jillian's sister and that's how we all became friends :) It was so nice to meet up in the middle of the week and catch up.
Had to sneak in a little NBA Championship watching. The Boston Celtics were playing the Heat in the last game of their season (I have a crush on Paul Pierce).

Erin has been in Dallas for the past month and I've really missed her. I was glad to spend a lot of time with her this past week.
Out on Friday night

Saturday morning I did something I just never (well hardly ever) do - I skipped my date with gym. But I skipped it for a date with my mom so it was worth it :) We went to a community wide garage sale on the Air Force base. I walked a way with a couple of goodies including these:
Karina - I thought about you and your crush on Hulk Hogan growing up :) I wasn't a huge Hogan fan, but I respect him. He put wrestling on the map and made it cool, made it mainstream and for that I'm thankful :) Don't you love my new London Beer mug? Cheers mate!!!

Later that day I enjoyed the beautiful cool day at the annual Cajun Fest downtown.
It was good food (I had cajun spiced catfish (was not brave enough to try the gator) and spicy corn on the cob and potatoes!) and good live music! We had such an amazing time!!! The night didn't even end there. Two more bar stops before I got home that night that by the time I hit the bed I was out! :)

I was so exhausted from all the fun I had Fri and Sat that I ended up sleeping in until after NOON on Sunday. I hardly do that either. And I really hate missing church :( But I guess my body just needed to recover. And it was so nice to sleep in with Philip. We never get to do that. There's something so nice about sleeping until you want to and not waking up to an alarm.

As soon as I woke up I got dressed for my back-to-back movie date with Ashleigh. As you can tell from the pictures, she is very pregnant - like 9 months pregnant :) She's due to have her first baby this upcoming Friday, but the doctor told her she could have him any day now. All weekend long she was hoping she was going to get to meet her little boy, but he wanted to stay in just a little bit longer. She's so ready to have him that to sit at home is torture for her. She needed to occupy her mind. And I'm glad she decided to do that with me.  I'm thankful for all the time we got to spend together before baby Chase comes along :)

We went and saw

COMPLETELY hilarious!!! :) I don't watch SNL so I never knew exactly how funny Kristen Wiig was :) But I did know how beautiful I always thought Rose Byrne was:

Followed by

I couldn't wait to see this one because twinkie had loved it and told me I needed to see it asap. Micaela is in loooooooove with Colin Egglesfield who is a delicious!!!!! And we both love Ginnifer Goodwin
How cute is her short hair? I love short hair!

I absolutely LOVED this movie. Unpredictable. Real. And shot in NYC :) I love seeing movies in the city now that I know where everything is :) Shake Shack - Karina's & my place - wouldn't have meant anything to me had I seen it in the movie prior to going to NYC.

But seeing it in the movie now made me miss my sweet Kary and Miguelito so much!!!! I wish we could just meet there for lunch any time we wanted to my sweet sister! xo

In between everything going on this weekend I managed to squeeze in some Grey's Anatomy. I'm so far behind (like two seasons behind) that I'm finally catching up on season 6 on netflix.

I cannot stop watching. It's addicting. Every single time I watch I get sucked in to the drama at Seattle Grace. I say one more episode after one is through. And every single time I end up crying (if you watch the show you know why, it pulls at your heartstrings!). Such a good show!

What did you do this weekend? xo
