Ronaldinho Targets 2014 World Cup After 20,000 Flamengo Fans Welcome Him Home
While most footballers sit in front of the assembled media or perform a few kick-ups when they sign for a new club, Ronaldinho does things slightly differently.
The former Barcelona star took to the stage for his presentation as a Flamengo player and was greeted by 20,000 cheering Flamengo fans.
Ronaldinho has signed on a four-year deal from AC Milan and insisted he wants to help Flamengo return to the glory days.
"I want to take the name of Flamengo as high as possible, winning as many titles as possible and repaying the love of the fans, I want to give them happiness," he said.
"I didn't expect such a big party. I'm proud to have got such a reception and to be compared with Zico."
As well as his future with Flamengo, the midfielder also has his sights firmly set on the biggest prize of all - the World Cup in 2014, hosted by Brazil.
"That's my objective. I decided to return to Brazil for that," he revealed.
"Many come back to Brazil only to close out their careers. But after years away from Brazil, the World Cup and the 2012 Olympics have given me motivation to return."
Meanwhile, Brazil coach, Mano Menezes, says Ronaldinho's chances of playing for the national team will be boosted by returning to Brazil.
Menezes revealed that Ronaldinho will have "more proximity to the national team" and can be "observed more closely" than when in Europe.
