The 20-year-old son of the world’s seventh richest man is being investigated after he was involved in an accident over the weekend where a 30-year-old man was killed.
Reports say Thor Batista, the son of Brazilian billionaire Eike Batista, was driving his father’s $450,000 Mercedes McLaren SLR Saturday night, when he collided with Wanderson Pereira dos Santos, who was crossing Washington Luiz Highway on his bike.
Pereira dos Santos, who worked as a construction, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police questioned Thor, who was not arrested, and asked him to appear in court on Thursday to answer questions about the accident.
Fifty-five year old Eike Batista, who owns EBX Group, is said to be worth in the neighborhood of $30 billion. He made his money dealing with oil and gas mining, construction and entertainment. According to reports, the company has about $1.5 trillion in assets
