The 20-year-old son of the world’s seventh richest man is being investigated after he was involved in an accident over the weekend where a 30-year-old man was killed.

Reports say Thor Batista, the son of Brazilian billionaire Eike Batista, was driving his father’s $450,000 Mercedes McLaren SLR Saturday night, when he collided with Wanderson Pereira dos Santos, who was crossing Washington Luiz Highway on his bike.

Pereira dos Santos, who worked as a construction, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police questioned Thor, who was not arrested, and asked him to appear in court on Thursday to answer questions about the accident.

Fifty-five year old Eike Batista, who owns EBX Group, is said to be worth in the neighborhood of $30 billion. He made his money dealing with oil and gas mining, construction and entertainment. According to reports, the company has about $1.5 trillion in assets

Batista’s Royal Rumble victory in 2005 was the beginning of a lot of changes in the WWE, and marked the occasions when two of it’s upcoming stars made their way to the top. Batista entered the Rumble as a member of Evolution, but left with a championship match at Wrestlemania. After Triple H’s attempts at masterminding his way out of a match with Big Dave failed, the two former stablemates would clash at Wrestlemania 21, and Batista would ascend to the very top of the WWE, an event paralleled by Smackdown’s John Cena. At the beginning of 2005, Batista was still very much a member of Evolution, along with Triple H & Ric Flair, a group that had dominated WWE throughout the most of 2004. Randy Orton had been kicked out of the group after the Summerslam of 2004 for winning the World Heavyweight Championship that Triple H felt was rightfully his. Batista remained loyal to Triple H, who eventually won the title back from Orton; after which Triple H would then use the group as a means to retain his World Heavyweight Championship. At New Year’s Revolution of 2005, Triple H, Batista & Randy Orton were the final three contestants of an Elimination Chamber match to determine a new World Heavyweight Champion, after the title had been vacated. Orton managed to eliminate Batista, but he remained in the chamber, and helped his mentor Triple H defeat Orton to retain the championsh

The following night on Raw, Batista faced Randy Orton in a match to determine the new #1 contender for Triple H’s title, which Batista lost. Orton earned himself another title shot at the Royal Rumble, whilst Batista was free to enter the Rumble match itself. Triple H suggested that Batista and Ric Flair shouldn’t enter the Royal Rumble match, but instead focus on helping him retain the World title. Raw GM manager Eric Bischoff went on to ban Evolution from ringside, leaving Triple H to face Orton alone, but Hunter managed to defend the championship anyway. Both Batista and Ric Flair then chose to enter the Royal Rumble match later that night. regardless of Triple H’s wishes.

The 2005 Royal Rumble match began with Eddie Guerrero & Chris Benoit as the first two entrants, and together they both survived the majority of the match. Other entrants like Edge, Rey Mysterio & Chris Jericho would also survive a lot of competition, but it wasn’t until the match reached its final few entrants that it really began to shake up.

The United States champion John Cena arrived at #25 to one of the biggest reactions of the night, and made an immediate impact on the match, eliminating Viscera single-handedly and hitting everyone in sight. Gene Snitsky also made his presence felt, and turned Paul London inside out while eliminating him. The #27 entrant Kane would then arrive to assert his dominance with chokeslams-a-plenty.

Batista then began his first Royal Rumble match as the 28th entrant, eliminating Snitsky in a matter of seconds. As Batista then started to slug it out with Kane, it was starting to become apparent how popular he was with the crowd, who cheered Big Dave on as he Batista-Bombed Kane and then continued his roll by eliminating the long standing Chris Jericho from the match. Christian entered the match at #29, and soon after John Cena FU’d Kane over the top rope and out. The luckiest man of the night however was #30, and Batista’s Evolution partner, Ric Flair, and together they started to double team the remaining contestants.

Batista and Flair started to clear the ring of more weary opponents, and a cocky Flair strutted his way about the ring. He tried to double-cross Batista by attempting to eliminate him from behind, but failed. As Flair tried to explain himself, Edge & Rey Mysterio double dropkicked Batista down, and following a Spear, Flair was eliminated by Edge.

It then came down to the final four, Edge, Rey Mysterio, John Cena & Batista. Edge took the early advantage, Spearing both Cena & Batista. Rey would avoid Edge’s Spear and hit a 619 instead, but as he tried to find his balance on the apron Edge would Spear him off it and onto the arena floor, eliminating him from the contest. As Cena & Batista pulled themselves up near the ropes, Edge tried to clothesline them both out at the same time, but was back bodydropped out by Cena & Dave, leaving just two men in the ring.

According to Batista’s WWE published book “Batista Unleashed” he had a very difficult and poor upbringing and felt the repercussions of his mother being an open lesbian. He was born in Arlington, Virginia although he spent most of his childhood in a rough part of Washington DC, where he claims to have witnessed several murders on his doorstep and began stealing cars by the age of 13. He gets his unique name from being half Filipino as his father was from the Philippines. He is also part Greek as his mother is from Greece. Batista is a grandfather, has three daughters and was divorced twice, most recently from his wife Angie after he committed several affairs.

From a young age, due to his naturally impressive physique Batista worked as a bouncer at local Washington clubs, but was known for his bad attitude and violent behavior. He was fired from one club after severely beating two men and had to leave the bouncing industry after being sentenced to one years probation. He briefly worked as a lifeguard before taking up his dream of bodybuilding, which ultimately led to Pro Wrestling.

- Whilst working the bodybuilding circuit he was approached by wrestlers Road Warrior animal and the late “Mr Perfect” Curt Hennig, who saw potential in his monster size. They said he’d make a good wrestler and pointed him towards the WCW Powerplant, the official WCW training school. At this time WCW was well in to its dieing days and the Powerplant was just as political as backstage at Monday Nitro. Due to this fact and the possible opinion that they didn’t want to hire yet another “bodybuilder type,” Batista was told that he’d never make it in Pro Wrestling.

- Still willing to give wrestling a shot he went to WCW’s rival, the then WWF and they immediately saw potential in his size, as is often the case for big men and the WWE. He was sent to the famous Wild Samoan Wrestling School, ran by former tag team champion Afa Anoa’i. It was here that he learned the fundamentals and got his first live appearances for the Samoan’s World Xtreme Wrestling Indy show, going by the name of Kahn. Now he had the basics covered a spot opened up for him at Ohio Valley Wrestling, one of WWE’s development territories at the time and in the Summer of 2000 he officially signed a WWE development contract, beginning the long journey to super stardom. Here he’d learn the “WWE Style” of wrestling, understand psychology and get experience working TV tapings.

He was given the gimmick and name of Leviathan (which is a biblical sea monster), and his debut saw him rising out of the Mississippi river. He was a lot bigger back then and wore colored contact lenses to give him an evil appearance. Here he is filming an early vignette:

- Under the tutelage of the two veterans Batista, along with Orton were fast tracked to stardom, being a part of many main event storylines thanks to his connection with Triple H. He won his first WWE title during this era with fellow Evolution member Ric Flair at Armageddon 2003, ironically defeating the Dudley Boyz.

- Randy Orton was the first member to leave Evolution, but Batista wouldn’t stay loyal forever. They teased that he was beginning to turn on Triple H for a number of weeks and Hunter became worried that Batista was becoming a threat to his title. A failed attempt at stopping Batista enter the Royal Rumble saw their friendship reach near breaking point, and when he won the 2005 event, Flair and Hunter tried to make him join Smackdown at which point he turned on the Game. He went on to beat him at Wrestlemania 21, cementing him as a top contender. He would go on to continue his main event status feuding with the likes of JBL, Eddie Guerrero, Undertaker and Edge.

- There has been a lot of controversy surrounding Batista’s personal life, with many claiming him to be arrogant, a womanizer and hard to work worth – so much so that many applauded Booker T for punching him out one time backstage. His own book “Batista Unleashed” reveals a lot of dirt on himself including a relationship with Diva Melina.

- During his early run in WWE both critics and “smart fans” labeled Batista as just another “big man” that couldn’t wrestle or cut a convincing promo. A lot of his early matches with Evolution were deemed poor, squash matches or only good because a team member “carried the match.” He eventually became universally accepted as a solid worker, who could have good matches with other good wrestlers, although isn’t considered a “ring general.” He also found a niche as a laid back and often arrogant character and tailored his promos as such.

- Throughout his career Batista has suffered several legitimate injuries that left him sidelined for extended periods of time. The first occurred on March 1st, 2003 when he pulled his triceps muscle at a house show. He returned in October taking out Goldberg. His second injury happened on the November 11th edition of Smackdown after getting chokeslammed by Kane. He tore one of his back muscles. He was further chokeslammed ultimately on to a car to storyline explain his absence. He was injured again in 2006 during a house show match with Mark Henry, tearing his triceps muscle again. He emotionally vacated his World title.

- There was a lot unstated heat on Batista early on in his career as other wrestlers felt he didn’t deserve his spot. It has often been described as jealousy that he got to learn from Ric Flair and Triple H virtually right off the bat and then was groomed for the main event slot he now holds.

- Around the 2005 period onwards Batista began to get serious heat from other wrestlers for his arrogant attitude and the fame seemed to be going to his head. The jealousy that was felt earlier on was at an all time high and many people felt he didn’t deserve his spot and was abusing it. This attitude came through to the public when he spoke negatively of the Smackdown brand in an interview with the UK Sun Newspaper. He stated “I’ve watched their tapings live and it seems like a lot of the guys couldn’t care less. There’s a lack of passion and pride,” and that it made him “sick.” In a later interview he said “there are guys on both shows who are lazy, couldn’t care less and show no dedication.” This even got him some heat from management who aren’t overly keen on wrestlers doing out of character interviews, especially if it involves talking bad about the product. Still by this time Batista was in an “untouchable” position within the company.

- In the same interview he blasted TNA Wrestling and AJ Styles stating “I’ve also seen clips of their car wreck matches with A.J. Styles doing his stunts. That’s not wrestling. Wrestling is storytelling.” AJ responded by saying “I think it’s funny that a guy who takes a bump and tears his back tells me that I don’t know how to wrestle.”

- In mid 2006 Booker T and Batista got involved in a legitimate backstage fight stemming from Batista’s big ego. Booker got the upper hand and was virtually backed by everyone in the locker room, who saw Batista as immature and arrogant, undeserving of his push. Batista had an attitude like he was the top man in the company and various wrestlers enjoyed the fact that he was brought down a peg or two by Booker.

- At times Batista has been known as a womanizer and his autobiography “Batista Unleashed” brought this to the forefront of media attention, revealing that he committed serial affairs on his ex-wife Angie. One quote sums it up:

“Now, don’t get me wrong, my ex-wife is the love of my life and I would never knowingly hurt her. However, while I was busting my butt on the road like a dog, she would sit around the house and do nothing. I mean, yeah, she had cancer, but she couldn’t vacuum? And since the chemo made her ‘not in the mood’, I had no choice but to have threesomes on the road. I mean, she’s talented and I hated to see her waste her life like that when she could be a dancer, or maybe a nurse. But she’s not a bad person and I take full responsibility for my actions, even though it was her fault.”

- Batista has also been linked to a couple of WWE Divas. Batista claims in his book and several interviews that in 2006 after he divorced his wife he began a strictly physical relationship with Melina, later they began dating. But John Morrison has gone on record as late as November 2007, claiming that he was still going out with Melina. She has yet to comment herself. It was also believed that Batista was actually cheating on his wife with Melina prior to their divorce. Their relationship stems from an on air segment where Melina “warmed up” Batista before his match.

The second Diva he’s been linked to is Shelly Martinez, aka Salinas in TNA and Ariel when she was on ECW. Although no specifics are known it is believed Batista harassed her in some way, but because he is such a star she got released instead. A picture later surfaced where Martinez gave the finger to a Batista action figure in retaliation for her release:

Fabrice Muamba Faces Long Road to Recovery

Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba faces a long road to recovery according to a joint statement released by the player's father Marcel and fiancee Shauna.

Muamba remains in the London Chest Hospital, where he was admitted on Saturday night after suffering a cardiac arrest during his club's FA Cup quarter-final with Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

"Even though Fabrice has made great progress over the last couple of days, he is still in intensive care, and still has a long period of recovery ahead," read the statement.

"He has asked that you please keep him in your prayers."

It was only after talking to the pair on Tuesday that Bolton manager Owen Coyle was given the all-clear for his team to resume their Premier League campaign against Blackburn on Saturday.

Marcel and Shauna are maintaining their presence alongside Muamba and admit they have been overwhelmed by the response to the 23 year-old's plight.

"We would like to firstly thank God for answering our prayers," continued the statement.

"Thank you to everyone for the love, prayers and support over the past few days.

"In particular we owe an enormous gratitude to the Bolton and Spurs medical teams for their quick reaction on Saturday, and the fantastic team here at the London Chest Hospital.

"We have been overwhelmed by all the kind messages we have received.

"The support we have had from the fans, not just from Bolton but football supporters around the world, has given us so much strength.

"We have been particularly touched by the support from the football community globally.

"Thanks also to our family and close friends and thank you to the media for respecting our privacy during this very difficult time."

Midfielder Fabrice Muamba collapsed on the ground and stops during the FA Cup

Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba was said to be critically ill in intensive care tonight after collapsing during a match with Tottenham.

Tonight, a Bolton spokesman said: "Bolton Wanderers can confirm that Fabrice Muamba has been admitted to the heart attack centre at London Chest Hospital where he is currently in a critically ill condition in intensive care.

"No further information will be issued at this stage.

"The club has requested the media to respect his family's privacy at this time."

The 23-year-old had walked away from the action towards the side of the pitch before collapsing face first onto the ground.

He was immediately surrounded by players and medical staff.

However the player was not breathing and CPR was administered before a defibrillator was called for.

The former England Under-21 star was taken off on a stretcher as fans held their heads in their hands, with some in tears.

The incident was so serious the match at White Hart lane was abandoned after 41 minutes by referee Howard Webb.

The footballer was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

Commentating on ESPN, John Barnes said: "From the players' reaction on both sides it seemed that things were pretty serious."

Kevin Keegan added: "Jermain Defoe seemed absolutely distraught.

"The fans are in a state of shock. I've never seen anything like that on a football pitch before.

"Our hearts go out to his family."

There was nobody around Muamba when he went down and he was not involved in a challenge.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle ran on to the pitch to see what had happened as players gathered and a defibrillator was used on the star, who has also played for Arsenal and Birmingham.

As a message was relayed around the stadium that the game was off, the fans applauded and chanted Muamba's name.

The scene recalled memories of Cameroon's Marc Vivien-Foe who collapsed and died during a Confederations Cup match in 2003.

Fabrice Muamba may collapse due to a tragic accident to make the heart is weak

The sudden cardiac arrest suffered by Fabrice Muamba was “an accident waiting to happen”, according to a leading UK cardiologist with extensive knowledge of heart disorders in professional athletes.

The cardiologist, who spoke to Telegraph Sport under condition of anonymity, said that current heart screening processes may not pick up conditions that could develop later in their career.

The cardiac arrest that caused Muamba, 23, to collapse during Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Tottenham is thought to have been caused by arrhythmia, or disorder of the heart rhythm. This could have been induced by a number of underlying heart conditions, most stemming from an abnormality of the heart muscle.

“One of them is hypertrophic cardiomyopathy [HCM],” the cardiologist said. “This is a condition which can have a genetic basis, which may run in families or as an isolated case. It’s where the left ventricle has totally disorganised and thickened. Severe cases can present as sudden death during exercise. It’s an unusual but serious rhythm disorder. The heart shivers and shakes and stops beating properly.”

Another potential cause is right ventricle dysplasia, a condition where the heart is infiltrated by abnormal fatty tissue. This is more difficult to diagnose, sometimes requiring an MRI scan to detect.

Other heart conditions that may induce sudden collapse are Brugada Syndrome and Long QT Syndrome, where the electrical flux in the heart muscle can become abnormal.

Football world Fabrice Muamba. heart attack

The football world remains united in hope for stricken Bolton player Fabrice Muamba.

As it was revealed Muamba will spend at least another 24 hours in intensive care after medical staff took two hours to get the 23-year-old's heart beating on its own following his collapse during an FA Cup quarter-final with Tottenham on Saturday, former team-mate Gary Cahill led the tributes.

Cahill was a team-mate of Muamba's for two-and-a-half years before leaving Bolton for Chelsea in January. The bond between the pair remains strong and after scoring in Chelsea's FA Cup win over Leicester at Stamford Bridge, Cahill revealed a T-shirt with the message 'Pray 4 Muamba' printed on it.

It is a message that has been repeated by so many as concern for Muamba's condition continued. Supporters at Wolves' home game with Manchester United combined in a minute's applause before kick-off.

A detailed statement, released jointly by Bolton and the London Chest Hospital on Sunday lunchtime, brought good news in the sense that Muamba's heart was working again.

"Fabrice Muamba remains in a critical condition in intensive care in the Heart Attack Centre at The London Chest Hospital," read the statement. "He was admitted to the hospital yesterday evening after collapsing at White Hart Lane, where he sustained a cardiac arrest during the FA Cup Quarter Final against Tottenham Hotspur.

"Fabrice received prolonged resuscitation at the ground and en route to The London Chest Hospital, where his heart eventually started working. As is normal medical practice, Fabrice remains anaesthetised in intensive care and will be for at least 24 hours. His condition continues to be closely monitored by the cardiac specialists at the hospital."

As a steady stream of supporters headed to the Reebok Stadium to lay flowers and offer their support to Muamba, the former Arsenal and Birmingham player was visited by members of his family on Sunday morning and Bolton officials and players, including manager Owen Coyle, and other famous footballing names later.

"From our end, and on behalf of the family, we want to say a big thanks to everyone," said Coyle on Sunday. "We have been inundated by good messages, everyone praying for Fabrice which is very important. It has been a real source of strength for the family. We know how difficult a time it is for everyone.

"I can't really quantify it (the support). It has been incredible, not just from the football world, from everyone.

Fabrice Muamba critical since Saturday night in the hospital bolton

Muamba fell face-down to the field near the midfield line without any players near him.

Medics rushed onto the field with a defibrillator and treated the 23-year-old, pumping his chest for about six minutes of treatment before he was rushed to hospital.

"Fabrice Muamba has been admitted to the heart attack center at London Chest Hospital where he is currently in a critically ill condition in intensive care," Bolton said in a statement about three hours later.

"No further information will be issued at this stage. The club has requested the media to respect his family's privacy at this time."

When Muamba collapsed in the 41st minute, Bolton manager Owen Coyle shouted from the sideline: "He's just collapsed."

Tottenham players William Gallas and Louis Saha along with referee Howard Webb immediately called for medical support as the game was stopped and live television coverage turned away from Muamba.

ome distressed players appeared to be praying and tearful as fans chanted Muamba's name between periods of complete silence at White Hart Lane.

Muamba was carried off on a stretcher with an oxygen mask and with his chest still being pumped as the crowd applauded. All the players also left the field before Webb abandoned the match.

Coyle and forward Kevin Davies accompanied Muamba to a hospital, while the rest of the Bolton team returned to northwest England by train.

Former Arsenal teammate Johan Djourou wrote on Twitter that he had visited Muamba on Saturday night.

"Just left the hospital," he said. "Love you so much man! Keep fighting. Everybody please pray for him he's an amazing man and friend."

Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe, who played in Saturday's match, tweeted: "God willing he will pull through."

Muamba's Bolton teammate Stuart Holden, who was watching the game on television, tweeted: "Praying for you Fab."

"The guy is a fighter on and off the field. We love you bro," he added. "Waiting anxiously for updates from teammates."

Muamba was born in what was then called Zaire on April 6, 1988. His father left the country for England because of political turmoil and his son joined him in 1999.

"This is my adopted country," Muamba said last year.

"People have helped me, welcomed me with open arms and given me this opportunity. I'm earning a more than decent living and leading a comfortable life. I'm very appreciative of that."

The path to a professional soccer career started when he joined Arsenal's youth academy in 2002.

He made his debut at age 17 on October 25, 2005, in the League Cup at Sunderland, and was loaned to Birmingham in the League Championship the following season.

The loan was made permanent in May 2007, and he made his Premier League debut for Birmingham in 2007-08 before joining Bolton in June 2008.

"I seriously hope my best friend in football is OK. Stay strong bro please please stay strong," said Middlesbrough defender Justin Hoyte, who came through the Arsenal youth team with Muamba.

Muamba, a father of one, has been part of England's youth team system and was a member of its team at last year's European Under-21 Championship, where he came on as a substitute against Ukraine and started against the Czech Republic.

"I would like to send our thoughts and prayers to Fabrice Muamba and his family this evening," FA chairman David Bernstein said.

"Fabrice has played 33 times for England Under-21s, captaining Stuart Pearce's side during this time and is a player, and more importantly, a person we care greatly for.

"We are in contact with Bolton Wanderers over Fabrice's condition and are awaiting updates."

Premier League Chief Executive Richard Scudamore hailed Muamba as a "wonderful ambassador for the English game."

"We would like to praise the players, match officials, coaching staff and medical teams of both clubs at White Hart Lane for their swift actions in attending Fabrice," Scudamore said.

"The league would also like to commend the compassion shown by the fans of Bolton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur."

There was an outpouring of support around the world for Muamba online and on fields.

After scoring in a 5-0 win over Fiorentina in Italy's Serie A on Saturday evening, Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo dedicated the goal to Muamba.

"I want to lend support to a colleague who's not well," Pirlo told Italy's Sky TV.
